The organization now known as The Boyd Agency was originally organized by
1906 by John Pope. The agency was then purchased in 1950 by Hubert "Hop"
Peele and became known as the Peel Insurance Agency. In 1973, the agency
was purchased by Linwood G. and Rebecca H. Boyd. Mrs. Boyd had been a
long-time employee of the Peele Agency – it was her first job out of highschool!

In 1978, the Boyds changed the name from the Peel Insurance Agency to the
Boyd Agency, Inc. During that time, Mr. Boyd focused on life insurance, real
estate sales and property management, while Mrs. Boyd focused on property
and casualty insurance sales. Mr. Boyd retired from the Agency in 2008 and
Mrs. Boyd retired in 2010.

In October of 2000, the Boyd's sold the agency to their son-in-law, Greg
Shepherd and long-time employee Teresa Harrison. Greg began his insurance
career in 1984 as a Claims Adjuster and joined the agency staff in 1988. Teresa joined the agency in 1987 and secured her P&C License in 1989.

In January of 2008, the decision was made to focus solely on insurance and to discontinue real-estate sales.

Greg Shepherd and Teresa Harrison continue the Boyd Agency tradition of hard work, building long-term relationship of trust with clients, protecting client assets, educating clients on changes in the insurance marketplace and providing them the customer service they deserve.
